"The more I handle the book you designed for me, and the more it gets around and people mention how lovely it looks and reads,
the more I appreciate how beautiful it looks. And you found that cover picture too.
Once again, thank you."—Margret Elson, author "The Piano and the Couch"
"I chose Vicky at Ponderosa Pine Design because the person referring her told me 'Vicky will not stop until you are happy.' I am not happy...
I am so far beyond happy words fail me. Every person who has seen Hidden Blessings' cover says the same thing: 'This is one of the most beautiful covers I’ve every seen.' And, it is. Vicky dove down into the depths of the book and brought its heart to the cover, and for that I am eternally grateful."—Jett Psaris, Author "Hidden Blessings"
"Vicky at Ponderosa Pine Design can read my mind. With each book, she knows exactly what I want and how to tell the story visually.
Ponderosa Pine Design knocks it out of the park every time!” -Kim Wyatt, Publisher, Bona Fide Books
"I just wanted to express my appreciation for your gorgeous work on the cover of 'BIGFOOT AND THE BABY'. You captured the spirit of the novel perfectly, and it will be hard for anyone to resist picking up book. I'm so grateful for your time and talent.”—Ann Gelder, author "Bigfoot and the Baby"
"When you go through something as horrific as our family went through, and then you write about it, it's important that people 'get it.' That they understand just what happened to Neil and all that he has lost. I'm not telling some sensationalistic story, but one of quiet emotion, and I think your cover captures that sentiment beautifully.”—Carolyn Roy-Bornstein, MD, author of "Crash" (Globe Pequot Press)
"I am filled with gratitude for your help and magic touch on my grand adventure of getting the book launched. I don't imagine it would have been a success any other way. Thank you so much"—Michael Judd, author of "Edible Landscaping" (Self-published)

“Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success. If you love what you are doing, you will be successful.”—Albert Schweitzer
Vicky Shea is a freelance book designer and owner of Ponderosa Pine Design in Reno, Nevada. She started her career in graphic design in 1989, graduating with honors from the Art Institute of San Diego (previously The Advertising Arts College). Being in advertising during the 1990s was fun but never Vicky’s passion. In 2000 she became an Art Director at Tehabi Books in San Diego, California. Tehabi packaged books for large publishers around the country and also did custom publishing. She worked briefly for BowTie Press in Irvine, California, in 2003, then she took a job as Art Director at Storey Publishing in North Adams, Massachusetts. After a couple of years at Storey, she returned to Reno to marry her school sweetheart and launch her freelance book design business.
Vicky has won several Benjamin Franklin awards and a PubWest Design award. She is a member of PubWest, attending their conference every year since becoming a member. She participates in local AIGA meetings, and has been a regular attendee of Book Expo America. Also attends Adobe Max and/or CreativePro annually to stay current on all the Adobe programs.
